A.A.米尔恩（Alan Alexander Milne，1882—1956）生于伦敦，大学读的是数学，参加过第一次世界大战，当过英国老牌幽默杂志《笨拙》的副主编。在为小朋友写书以前，他已经是一位大作家，写了许多长短篇小说、剧本、诗歌。不过让他闻名世界的，还是他的儿童文学作品。

米尔恩的儿童文学作品，主要是四本书，两本是童话，主角都是小熊维尼：《小熊维尼》（1926）和《小熊维尼角的房子》（1928），两本是儿童诗：《当我们很小的时候》（1924）和《现在我六岁了》（1927）。
