玛格丽特·阿特伍德，1939年出生于加拿大渥太华，早年在安大略北部和魁北克度过，1962年获哈佛大学文科硕士学位，曾任加拿大作家协会主席。她是加拿大最著名的小说家和诗人，其作品迄今已在全球35个国家出版。她曾推出30多部作品，其中包括小说、诗歌与批评散文。她的小说《女仆的故事》、《猫眼》与《别名格雷斯》曾获得加拿大的吉勒尔奖与意大利的普雷米欧·蒙德罗奖，《瞎眼刺客》曾获2000年英国布克小说奖。
